    Special presentations at Playhouse and Palace

    On Wednesday, July 15, a presentation with Clara Barton, Civil War Battlefield Nurse is being held at The Palace Theatre in Crossville at 6:00 p.m. Barton earned fame as the first independent woman to bring medical supplies and nursing care directly onto the front lines of Civil War battlefields. She was also directly involved in women’s suffrage, Geneva Convention, American Red Cross, Missing Soldiers Office, and more. Tickets are $19 for this event.     Bargain Basement is open Saturday

    The Bargain Basement is open Saturday, June 6, at 7 Methodist Street in Pikeville, from 9:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m.  Clothes, shoes, CDs, books and toys are $1 a grocery bag and most other items are $1 unless marked. Clean usable donations are appreciated and can be brought to them during open hours or on Thursday afternoons from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

    Unearth A Story during summer reading program

    It is summer reading time again at the Bledsoe County Library. Sign-up begins June 9 and teacher Kathie Britt will begin story hour at the Pikeville Farmers Market on June 11 at 10:30 a.m. The kickoff show, “Unearth the Magic” will be June 18 at 10:30 a.m. at the Main Street Stage, downtown Pikeville. Get ready for a Prehistorical Adventure with amazing magic, ventriloquism, and storytelling with Dave Mitchell. Everyone is invited to enjoy the show. Adults, please bring a chair for comfort.

    Democratic Party meeting is Thursday, June 11

    The Bledsoe County Democratic Party is holding a meeting on Thursday, June 11 at 5:00 p.m. at the Pikeville Municipal Building in the community meeting room. A number of candidates for District 4 Congressional office are expected. A potluck meal is being served. All Democrats are urged to attend this meeting and bring a dish to share.
